Add Course Reserves to D2L

Your students will access your course reserves directly from your D2L course site, so add the course reserves module. Note: This step is necessary because students cannot access course reserves through the Edit Course menu; that menu is only available to instructors. If you do not add the course reserves module, students will not be able to access your course reserves list.

  1. In Content, select the Add a module… box.
  2. Enter a name for the module, e.g. Course Reserves
  3. Select Existing Activities and click External Learning Tools.
  4. Select Course Reserves

For more information about D2L modules and content, see the Center for Teaching and Learning’s Teaching Commons D2L Content Overview.

Add persistent links to items, sections, or your list

You can add persistent links to your D2L course site that will remain active if you copy your D2L course. You can link directly to:

  • An item in your course reserves list
  • a section of your course reserves list
  • or your course reserves list

1. Click on the Share Item icon and click Copy link for DESIRE2LEARN. This link can only be used in D2L and will remain active if you copy your D2L course.

2. In a module in your D2L site, click the Existing Activities drop down menu.

3. Click External Learning Tools.

4. Scroll to the bottom and click the Create New LTI Link button.

5. Add the title and the persistent link for DESIRE2LEARN and click Create and Insert
