Please note that access to the SciFinder database is restricted to current DePaul students, staff and faculty for educational and non-commercial use only.
Setting up your new individual SciFinder account is a TWO-STEP process:
Registering for your new SciFinder account requires the use of your DePaul email account.
STUDENTS:
For new and recently-enrolled DePaul students, email addresses have the format: userid@depaul.edu in which the "userid" is the same as your Campus Connect username (before Spring Quarter, 2020, student email addresses had the format: userid@mail.depaul.edu ).
Student email accounts are provided through "Office 365" - a service provided for DePaul by Microsoft.
If you cannot log into "Office 365," contact DePaul's Information Services Help Desk or helpdesk@depaul.edu or (312) 362-8765.
For more instructions on student email, refer to: Student Email and University Communications
FACULTY & STAFF:
STEP 2: REGISTER YOUR NEW SCIFINDER ACCOUNT
Current DePaul students, staff and faculty need to register and set up their individual account: HERE
Registration Essentials:
Once your account registration has been activated, you can log into SciFinder HERE, or via any of the links marked SciFinder provided in this Research Guide, or through the library's A-Z Databases listing--thereby ensuring your proper authentication as a DePaul user. Attempts to access SciFinder through your Internet browser may result in the error: "Access to SciFinder is not authorized from this IP address." (this does not apply when using the much simpler 'Scifinder Mobile' version of SciFinder at scifinder.cas.org/mobile).
SciFinder is compatible with all major browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari & Explorer. It is strongly recommended that you add the cas.org domain to 'allowed' websites in your browser's pop-up blocker management tool. This allows the appearance of pop-up windows associated with SciFinder's "Link To Other Sources" full text linking tool.
If you encounter any difficulty registering or accessing your SciFinder account, please advise the Chemistry & Biochemistry Subject Librarian, or contact Ask A Librarian.
