Setting Up Your New Individual SciFinder Account

Before you proceed, note that access to the SciFinder database is restricted to current DePaul students, staff and faculty for educational and non-commercial use only.

Setting up your new individual SciFinder account is a TWO-STEP process:

STEP 1: ACCESS YOUR DEPAUL EMAIL ACCOUNT

In order to complete the registration process for your new SciFinder account, you will need to access and use your DePaul email account.

STUDENTS:

  • For new and recently-enrolled DePaul students, email addresses have the format: userid@depaul.edu in which the "userid" is the same as your Campus Connect username (before Spring Quarter, 2020, student email addresses had the format: userid@mail.depaul.edu ).

  • Student email accounts are provided through "Office 365" - a service provided for DePaul by Microsoft.

  • If you cannot log into "Office 365," contact the Technology Support Center Help Desk or phone at (312) 362-8765.

  • For more instructions on student email, refer to: Student Email and University Communications

‚Äč FACULTY & STAFF:

  • Get E-mail advice & support at the Information Services Employee Email website
  • OR  contact the Technology Support Center (TSC) at (312) 362-8765

STEP 2: REGISTER YOUR NEW SCIFINDER ACCOUNT

Current DePaul students, staff and faculty need to register and set up their individual account: HERE

Registration Essentials:

  • On the registration form, you must enter your DePaul email address
  • Pay attention to the password tips or you may have problems registering and/or logging into SciFinder
  • After submitting the completed registration form, you will receive an email (in your DePaul email account) from CAS (@cas.org) which includes a link allowing you to complete the registration process.

LOGGING INTO YOUR NEW SCIFINDER ACCOUNT

Once your account registration has been activated, you can log into SciFinder HERE, or via any of the links marked SciFinder provided in this Research Guide, or through the library website A-Z Databases list.

SciFinder is compatible with all major browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari & Explorer.  It is strongly recommended that you add the cas.org domain to 'allowed' websites in your browser's pop-up blocker management tool. This allows the appearance of pop-up windows associated with SciFinder's "Link To Other Sources" full text linking tool.

If you encounter any difficulty registering or accessing your SciFinder account, please advise the Chemistry & Biochemistry Subject Librarian, or contact Ask A Librarian.
