What is a Scopus Author Profile?

Scopus Author Profiles provide a comprehensive and standardized overview of an author's scholarly output and impact metrics. Scopus Author Profiles allow researchers to:

  • Demonstrate their reputation and the impact of their outputs
  • Attract other researchers for networking and collaboration
  • Inform promotion and tenure dossiers or personal CVs
  • Add context and breadth to grant applications

Your Scopus profile is automatically created for you by Scopus once they have indexed at least one of your publications. Scopus criteria to determine authorship include: name, email, affiliation, subject area, citations, and co-authors.

Searching for authors

You can search for authors from the Scopus Search page.

  • When you search by authors, you can search by author name or ORCID [1]
  • When searching by author name, the last name of the author is required. You can also enter a first name or initials, and an affiliation name [2]  to further narrow your results
  • Scopus Researcher Discovery [3] allows you to search for authors by keyword in order to identify researchers who are working in a specific area

Author Profile overview

A Scopus author profile contains some key information:

  • Basic profile information, including: author name, affiliation, and unique Scopus ID [1]. A note at the top of the profile indicates if it was automatically generated by Scopus [2]
  • Options to Set alert [3] and Save to list [4]. The alert gives you the option to be notified when a new publication by this author is added to Scopus or when this author is cited by other Scopus documents
  • Opportunities to understand this researcher's impact by seeing their published documents and other data derived from those documents, including co-authors and citations [5]
  • You can also View references [6] cited in this author's documents to discover other researchers whose work they are in conversation with

Manage your Scopus Author Profile

Scopus algorithms cannot always match all documents to a single profile with 100% accuracy. Check out your Scopus Author Profile to ensure that the details are correct and your citations are up to date. If you notice multiple author profiles, you can request to have those profiles merged via the Author list page.  Also, you can use the Scopus Author Feedback Wizard to review your Scopus profile and submit feedback, including the ability to:

  • Set a preferred name

  • Merge profiles

  • Add and remove documents

  • Update affiliation

You can start by claiming your profile. Once you find your author profile you can click Edit Profile:
