Getting Started

When we think about ethics in the United States, oftentimes the well known philosophers come to mind: Socrates, Aristotle, Kant, Plato, etc. Diversity doesn't mean that we eliminate these canonical thinkers from your syllabus. This provides an opportunity to consider additional perspectives and engage students' in critical thinking. The following perspectives can be useful to incorporate into your course:

  • Non-Western perspectives on ethics
  • Indigenous approaches to ethics
  • Feminist thought and frameworks related to ethics
