Candidates for Mayor

The following candidates have been certified and will appear on the February ballot:

  • Gery Chico, former chair of the Illinois State Board of Education and candidate for mayor in 2011
  • William M. Daley, former White House Chief of Staff and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, candidate for Governor in 2014, member of the Daley family
  • Amara Enyia, community activist, organizer, attorney and policy consultant, Director of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, candidate for mayor in 2015
  • Robert Fioretti, former Chicago City Alderman and candidate for mayor in 2015
  • La Shawn K. Ford is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 8th District since 2007
  • Jerry Joyce, former Assistant States Attorney, son of former Alderman Jeremiah E. Joyce
  • John Kozlar, candidate for alderman in Chicago's 11th ward in 2011 and 2015
  • Lori Lightfoot, former president of the Chicago Police Board and former US Attorney
  • Garry McCarthy, former Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department
  • Susana Mendoza, Illinois Comptroller and former City Clerk of Chicago
  • Toni Preckwinkle, president of the Cook County Board of Commissioners and chair of the Cook County Democratic Party
  • Neal Sales-Griffin, technologist, teacher, non-profit executive, startup founder, and lifelong Chicagoan
  • Paul Vallas, former chief executive officer of Chicago Public Schools
  • Willie Wilson, businessman, candidate for mayor in 2015 and candidate for President in 2016

Chicago Election: February 26, 2019

Early voting begins in all 50 wards on Feb. 11.

Before Feb. 11, Early Voting will begin Tuesday January 29 only at the Loop Super Site at 175 W. Washington St.
