In Summer 2020, the DePaul Library is migrating several library systems, along with other members of the CARLI consortium, in order to improve user experience and staff workflows. Primo VE will replace the VuFind Catalog for DePaul and I-Share, as well as the DePaul WorldCat Discovery search box used to find Library resources. Alma will replace the systems currently used by Library staff for operational functions, including acquisitions, cataloging, fulfillment, e-resource management and link resolution.
Shorter Purchasing Cycle
All Library services will be available as usual during Autumn Quarter. However, we need to suspend non-essential purchasing, including books, e-books and other e-resources, between February and Summer 2020 (not including course reserve requests). Please work with your Library Liaison to acquire any materials you need to support students during Spring and Summer Quarters before the end of January 2020. We understand this may be inconvenient, and we appreciate your patience during this process.
New Library Search Box
The Library’s homepage will be getting a new look! Primo VE will replace the WorldCat Discovery search box that connects you to the print and electronic resources provided by the DePaul Library. The new system will offer a simpler search interface for finding materials across different resources right from the Library's homepage.
Improvements to Find Full text @ DePaul
The process of finding specific journal titles and linking to full-text content from your search results will improve, as well.
When the migration to Alma and Primo VE begins, we will do our best to avoid service disruptions and address any unanticipated issues that may arise. We will communicate updates through the Library’s Full Text blog as well as our website, so stay tuned! We have addressed many FAQs throughout this guide, but we welcome your additional questions. Please get in touch with us at: email@example.com.
