University Library DePaul Library

Is the Special Collections and Archives Reading Room open?

The Reading Room is currently closed due to health and wellness concerns related to COVID-19. We look forward to hosting in-person researchers again, as soon as it is advisable.

Please visit our Digital Library to see some of our unique materials that have been digitized and are available remotely: https://digicol.lib.depaul.edu.

Can I contact an archivist for research assistance?

Yes! Special Collections and Archives reference service is available at https://libguides.depaul.edu/askspca and will be monitored and answered Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am. to 5:00 pm.

Some questions may be deferred until staff have access to unique materials on-site.

Can I partner with SPCA to provide library instruction for my course?

Special Collections and Archives will continue to support teaching and learning during Summer and Fall quarters 2020 with online sessions.  We will partner with faculty to develop course-specific instruction using digital surrogates from our collections.  To streamline the integration of digitized primary sources into the D2L course, please consider adding the librarian or archivist you are partnering with as a TA.  The librarian or archivist can be a guest at your Zoom meeting, develop an activity using digitized primary sources, or pre-record a presentation about how to find and use archives and rare books online.

To accommodate the planning and preparation required for online courses, we will need at least three weeks in advance of the class session.
