Is the Special Collections and Archives Reading Room open?

The Reading Room is currently closed due to health and wellness concerns related to COVID-19. We look forward to hosting in-person researchers again, as soon as it is advisable.

Please visit our Digital Library to see some of our unique materials that have been digitized and are available remotely: http://libservices.org/contentdm/index.php

Can I contact an archivist for research assistance?

Yes! Special Collections and Archives reference service is available at https://libguides.depaul.edu/askspca and will be monitored and answered Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm (the standard hours for SPCA reference).

Some questions may be deferred until staff have access to unique materials on-site.

Can I partner with SPCA to provide library instruction for my course?

Special Collections and Archives librarians are in contact with faculty who previously scheduled spring term SPCA instruction, and have offered a variety of options, depending on the nature of the resources to be used.

Options include individual research consultations, embedding a librarian/archivist in the D2L course, and pre-recorded Zoom sessions on finding and using rare books and primary sources online, tailored to each course. Please contact Morgen MacIntosh Hodgetts for more information.
