About the Info Commons

The John T. Richardson Library’s Information Commons supports individual research and study, collaborative work, and innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and research.  The Information Commons facilitates access to a variety of new technology tools, as well as research assistance, tutoring, and other programs provided by the library and campus partners in order to promote student success.

The Information Commons features:

  • Over one hundred computers (PCs and Macs)
  • Twenty laptop charging lockers
  • Twelve media:scape tables for group collaboration
  • Six oversized color scanners for specialized digitization needs
  • Six moveable whiteboards
  • Two technology training kiosks for self-paced IT learning
  • A plotter-printer for large-format posters
  • Ample seating for reading, studying, and collaborating
  • Abundant network connections
  • Ubiquitous wireless connectivity throughout

A suite of services are available, including expert research assistance from librarians and peer research tutors and technical support from the Genius Squad. Library instruction classrooms, the Learning Commons, a cooperative space offering peer tutoring and consulting, and the Scholar's Lab are also located within the Information Commons.

The Information Commons is open the same hours as the Richardson Library.
